Import bank statements to QuickBooks
Review in Statementoy, export the QuickBooks CSV shape, then map and preview it in QuickBooks Online. This guide uses a synthetic Example Bank export and does not complete an import in a QuickBooks account.
1. Review → Export
Open the statement review, compare every date, description, signed amount, account, and balance with the source, then choose QuickBooks CSV in Export. The synthetic file has three columns: Date, Description, Amount.

2. Choose the QuickBooks account and range
In QuickBooks Online, open Accounting → Bank transactions, select the account, then use the upload or manual upload option. Choose the account that owns the statement and set the range after its last imported transaction or from its opening balance. A direct bank CSV, QBO, QFX, or OFX export may be simpler when available.
The account choice and category mapping in this example are manual decisions. Statementoy does not sync to QuickBooks.
3. Map, preview, and deduplicate
- Upload the CSV and map Date, Description, and Amount. Choose the date format shown by the importer for the file.
- Preview positive and negative values. A bank deposit should remain positive and a withdrawal negative for this synthetic account.
- Remove rows already in the account. Compare the first and last dates, row count, opening/closing balance, and transaction net with the source.
- Continue only after the preview matches; then categorize and reconcile in QuickBooks.
Common mistakes
- Uploading the same date range twice because the prior last transaction was not checked.
- Reversing signs or mapping a three-column Amount file as separate Credit/Debit fields.
- Using the wrong account or a date format that the importer previews incorrectly.
- Skipping descriptions or balance checks because the row count looks right.
QuickBooks official guidance
QuickBooks documents manual upload of an English PDF or image account statement and transaction lists such as CSV or OFX. Its flow includes mapping and side-by-side review. Requirements can change, so follow the current product screen and official article.
